Africa’s Consciousness Returns: The Joey Akan Experience Returns on June 23
Joey Akan and Úrú Collective are proud to announce the return of The Joey Akan Experience, a long-form podcast hosted by award-winning Nigerian journalist and music critic Joey Akan, with the first episode premiering on June 23, 2026.
The Joey Akan Experience is produced by Úrú Collective in partnership with Andray Finance, whose commitment to empowering ambitious enterprises aligns with the show’s mission to amplify the stories and philosophies of Africa’s most compelling voices.
The show is not new to success. Pilot episodes aired on Glitch Africa featuring conversations with notable guests including Paul Onwuanibe and Kemen Ekerette, building an early and loyal audience around the show’s signature format. Season One marks the next chapter — the podcast’s official home is now The Joey Akan YouTube channel, and the show arrives with its biggest guest lineup yet.
The debut season features intimate, wide-ranging conversations with some of the most key voices across Africa — including Layi Wasabi, Tunde Onakoya, and Taaoma. Each episode follows the show’s signature slogan: Africa’s consciousness as a podcast. Guests dive deep into their life philosophies, journeys, and pivotal moments that shaped their craft.
